10+3 Places to Eat and Drink at JZP: A Culinary Journey Around the World

11.04.2025

Your ultimate guide to Jiřího z Poděbrad (JZP) – where to eat and drink like a local in Prague

For us locals, it's Náměstí Jiřího z Poděbrad, but let's be honest – that's quite a mouthful. Even many Czechs struggle to pronounce it fully! That's why the local expat community came up with a clever nickname: JZP. And guess what? Even the locals have started to use it too.

JZP might not be the biggest square in Prague, but it's easily one of the most charming. It's a place where culture, architecture, and cuisine come together beautifully. Look at the Noah's Ark-inspired Church of the Most Sacred Heart, a modernist masterpiece by Josip Plečnik, the same architect who helped reshape Prague Castle. Then swing your gaze to the love-it-or-hate-it Žižkov TV Tower – not the prettiest, but the views from the top are breathtaking.

But the best thing about JZP? The food scene. It's our favourite spot for lunch, breakfast, or dinner. With an impressive mix of international cuisines and local favourites, there's something here for every taste.

⚠️ Heads up: As of Spring 2025, the square is undergoing a bit of a facelift – surface renovations and improvements – but all our favourite spots are open and accessible. Don't let the scaffolding fool you.

Also, don't miss the JZP Farmers' Market, happening Wednesday to Saturday (except during winter). It's a local treasure, offering everything from organic veggies to Czech pastries and handmade goodies.
